While the music has a tendency to lull you into a melancholic slumber, the writing works like a hammer, constantly keeping you awake and diverting the player's attention on the game. The staccato writing forms a contrast with the meandering, melancholy musical score. I felt like the writing was carefully composed, in the sense that each short poetic sentence would be able to convey a lot of meaning and underlying tension through it's few words. The game tells it's story through compact verses that are fired at the player in rapid succession. Included are my thoughts on different aspects of the game. I have been following One Spirit for a while and thoroughly enjoyed playing your demo. I'm glad to hear you're digging it, though! However, as we trimmed its length to the initial hour or so, only the beginning of that remains. Originally, the demo was to be the whole prologue, which had a much larger narrative load for Yuri and Lada especially. They seem so much more complex than what the prologue could show. That's a strong theme in the game as a whole: you'll see the world in the gestures of the characters. This "unveiling" is as progressive as it would be in any other kind of storytelling, but here it develops especially when private life is forced to be a part of the public sphere, and of imminent history. Key to it, though, is the way such context comes to reflect and relate to the wider scenery of the late Cold War. In any case, Sysica as a fictional setting occupies much of the initial worldbuilding, as there's no making sense of the story without the immediate context that is essential to the characters and their lives. Have you tried collecting all the lore notes? The prologue begins to insinuate the way Europe and the world have spun a different way in the OSP timeline.
